Rudolf Medgyesi

Rudolf Medgyesi (b. 1996, Cluj-Napoca, Romania) is a Hungarian visual artist currently studying Object Design at the Hungarian University of Fine Art. He developed his technical expertise in ceramics at the renowned Zsolnay Workshop in Pécs. Ceramics constitutes the primary medium of his practice, which he combines with a wide range of sculptural approaches and materials.

Medgyesi's work centres on questions of identity, corporeality, and posthuman theory. Recurring motifs such as the self-portrait, the mask, and the parasite function as symbolic devices through which he explores the shifting relationship between humans and their environment, as well as processes of transformation and adaptation. In his work, nature is not conceived as a passive backdrop but as an active force gradually reclaiming what once belonged to it. By merging figurative and organic forms, he creates hybrid sculptural bodies that evoke biological evolution, decay, and continuous metamorphosis.
