Anna Bobály

Anna Bobály started her studies at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2022 and continued her studies at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Nürnberg in 2025. In 2023, she was awarded the Artificial Intelligence in Visual Arts scholarship. Her work has been presented in both solo and group exhibitions, including Lost in Translation (2023), at Epreskert, Hungarian University of Fine Arts, Budapest, as well as Young Painting, Sculpture (2025, m21 Gallery, Pécs) and Young Painting, Sculpture, Graphics (2026, Eger).

Bobály's interdisciplinary practice explores the relationships between language, literacy, and translation, with particular attention to the intersections of human and machine systems. Her works investigate the points at which sound, image, performativity, and technological processes converge, generating new layers of meaning at the boundaries of communication and perception.

Her large-scale black compositions centre on the relationship between light and absence. The dark surfaces simultaneously absorb and produce the experience of light, creating a visual language that is both meditative and intensely immersive. Bobály frequently employs pseudo-visual systems and pseudo-script that initially appear familiar or decipherable, yet ultimately resist legibility and fixed interpretation. Through the productive interplay of deliberate construction, intuition, and error, her works give rise to hybrid visual structures that reflect both the logic of contemporary technological systems and the complexities of human communication.
