Andor Becskei

Andor Becskei (b. 1991, Zenta, Serbia) is a sculptor whose practice explores the intersection of organic and industrial forms. His sculptures investigate the tension between natural structures and industrial materials while examining the possibilities of perception and complex visual experience.

Working primarily with steel, Becskei softens the material's rigid, engineered character through organic forms, motifs reminiscent of botanical structures, and sculptural compositions that evoke processes of natural growth. For the artist, nature is not a source of imagery but a mode of structural thinking. His works reinterpret the underlying principles of growth, balance, and continuous transformation within an industrial context.

His artistic process is defined by the interplay of precision and controlled chance. While the repetitive and meticulous stages of fabrication cultivate a meditative working process, the heat generated during welding introduces unpredictable distortions and material transformations that become integral to the final form. As a result, each sculpture emerges not simply as a designed object, but as the outcome of an ongoing dialogue with the material itself.

Becskei graduated from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts before continuing his studies at the Doctoral School of the University of Pécs. His work has been presented in numerous national and international exhibitions, and his public sculptures can be found in both Hungary and China. In 2024, he received the REBORN International Installation Competition and Exhibition Award in Chengdu, China.
